Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fluorometholone acetate is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid and a corticosteroid ester used primarily as an ophthalmic suspension to treat steroid-responsive inflammatory conditions of the eye. It acts by suppressing immune-mediated inflammation in ocular tissues. In addition to its potent anti-inflammatory effects as a glucocorticoid, it also exhibits progestogenic activity. The drug has been studied for other indications such as breast cancer but is mainly used for ocular inflammation due to its risk of systemic side effects at higher doses[5][6].
