Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination of fluoxetine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant, and DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone), a naturally occurring hormone that can be manufactured as a dietary supplement. This combination has shown synergistic effects in increasing progenitor cell proliferation in the adult hippocampus at lower doses of fluoxetine than would be effective alone, which may contribute to its antidepressant properties. The combination has also been studied for its effects on hypoglycemia responses in individuals with Type 1 diabetes and for treating canine aggression.
