Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FLUPI MR-P is a fixed-dose combination product containing flupirtine and paracetamol (acetaminophen), marketed by Tabq Therapeutics. Flupirtine is a selective neuronal potassium channel opener (SNCPO) that acts as a non-opioid analgesic and muscle relaxant by facilitating the opening of KCNQ2/3 channels, thereby stabilizing the neuronal membrane potential. Paracetamol is a widely used analgesic and antipyretic that primarily acts through the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system. This combination is typically used for the management of acute and chronic pain, particularly when associated with muscle spasms. It is formulated as a modified-release (MR) tablet to provide sustained pain relief. Note: Flupirtine has been subject to regulatory restrictions and withdrawals in several regions, including Europe, due to risks of hepatotoxicity.
