Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fluticasone furoate is a synthetic, trifluorinated corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory activity. It is a glucocorticoid receptor agonist that modulates the expression of genes involved in the inflammatory response, leading to the inhibition of multiple cell types (such as mast cells, eosinophils, and lymphocytes) and the release of inflammatory mediators like histamine, cytokines, and leukotrienes. AVAFLUT is a generic formulation of fluticasone furoate developed and marketed by OSL Pharma in Bangladesh, primarily indicated for the management of symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis. It is also available in inhalation formats for the maintenance treatment of asthma.
