Overview
Fluticasone furoate + umeclidinium bromide + vilanterol trifenatate is a once-daily, single-inhaler fixed-dose triple therapy combining an inhaled corticosteroid, a long-acting muscarinic antagonist, and a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist. Fluticasone furoate activates the glucocorticoid receptor to suppress airway inflammation; umeclidinium antagonizes airway muscarinic receptors to produce bronchodilation; and vilanterol activates beta2-adrenergic receptors to relax airway smooth muscle. It is administered as an inhalation powder for maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and adult asthma, and is not intended for relief of acute bronchospasm.
