Overview

Fluticasone propionate + albuterol sulfate is a fixed-dose combination inhalation therapy under development, combining an inhaled corticosteroid (fluticasone propionate) and a short-acting beta 2 adrenergic receptor agonist (albuterol sulfate). Fluticasone acts by binding to glucocorticoid receptors, reducing inflammation in the airways, while albuterol stimulates beta 2 adrenergic receptors to relax bronchial smooth muscle and provide rapid bronchodilation. This combination is being developed primarily for the treatment of asthma, aiming to both control chronic airway inflammation and provide quick relief from bronchospasm. The product is currently in Phase III clinical trials for asthma in adolescents and adults[4].
