Overview

PF-04764793 is an inhaled combination therapy developed by Pfizer for the treatment of asthma. It consists of fluticasone propionate, a synthetic corticosteroid that acts as a glucocorticoid receptor agonist to reduce airway inflammation, and salmeterol xinafoate, a long-acting beta2-adrenergic receptor agonist (LABA) that promotes bronchodilation. This combination is intended to provide both anti-inflammatory and bronchodilatory effects, similar to the established therapy Advair. Pfizer conducted Phase 1 clinical trials (such as NCT01041391) to evaluate the pharmacokinetics of PF-04764793 when delivered via different dry powder inhaler (DPI) designs in healthy volunteers.
