Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fluticasone propionate 0.05% cream is a medium-potency topical corticosteroid formulation widely used to treat inflammatory and pruritic skin conditions. Originally developed by GSK under the brand name Cutivate, the cream is approved for the treatment of atopic dermatitis, eczema, and psoriasis. It works by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor, which suppresses the release of inflammatory cytokines and downregulates immune cell activity in the skin. Additionally, the Academisch Medisch Centrum - Universiteit van Amsterdam (AMC-UvA) has evaluated fluticasone propionate 0.05% cream as an adjunctive therapy alongside narrow-band UVB (NB-UVB) phototherapy to promote repigmentation in patients with active non-segmental vitiligo.
