Overview

Flutriciclamide is a small molecule radiotracer with the chemical formula C20H27FN2O2 and a molecular weight of 346.4 g/mol. It is also known by its IUPAC name (4S)-N,N-diethyl-9-(2-fluoroethyl)-5-methoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydrocarbazole-4-carboxamide. Flutriciclamide has been developed as a positron emission tomography (PET) imaging agent targeting the translocator protein (TSPO), which is upregulated in activated microglia and thus serves as a biomarker for neuroinflammation in various neurological diseases[6]. The compound contains a fluorine atom suitable for labeling with fluorine-18 (^18F), enabling its use in PET scans to visualize neuroinflammatory processes.
