flutrimazole

Flutrimazole is a broad-spectrum imidazole antifungal drug used topically for the treatment of superficial mycoses of the skin, including conditions such as pityriasis capitis, seborrheic dermatitis, athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), tinea corporis and cruris, tinea versicolor, onychomycosis, facial tinea, and vulvitis. Its mechanism of action involves inhibition of fungal lanosterol 14α-demethylase (a sterol demethylase), which disrupts ergosterol biosynthesis in the fungal cell membrane. This leads to increased membrane permeability and ultimately cell death. The drug demonstrates efficacy comparable to clotrimazole and superior to bifonazole in clinical studies. It has minimal systemic absorption when applied topically and is well tolerated with a favorable safety profile[1][2][3][5][6][7][8].
