Fluvastatin + celecoxib is an investigational drug combination being evaluated by the Centre Oscar Lambret for the treatment of relapsed or refractory gliomas, including optico-chiasmatic low-grade and high-grade gliomas in children and young adults. Fluvastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) that may increase the sensitivity of glioma cells to anti-tumor agents by inhibiting the mevalonate pathway, which is involved in cell signaling and survival. Celecoxib (marketed as Celebrex) is a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor with anti-angiogenic and anti-tumor properties.
