Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This entry refers to the concomitant administration of Fluzone High-Dose Quadrivalent (Sanofi Pasteur) and the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine (mRNA-1273). Fluzone High-Dose Quadrivalent is an inactivated influenza vaccine containing 60 μg of hemagglutinin per strain (A/H1N1, A/H3N2, B/Victoria, and B/Yamagata), designed for superior protection in adults aged 65 and older. mRNA-1273 is a nucleoside-modified messenger RNA vaccine encapsulated in lipid nanoparticles that encodes the prefusion-stabilized spike protein of SARS-CoV-2. A Phase II study (NCT04969276) evaluated the safety and immunogenicity of giving these two vaccines during the same visit compared to separate administrations, finding similar immune responses and no safety concerns.
