Overview
Fluzone Quadrivalent is a quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccine (QIV) developed and manufactured by Sanofi Pasteur. It is designed to provide active immunization against influenza disease caused by two influenza A subtypes (H1N1 and H3N2) and two influenza B lineages (Victoria and Yamagata). By incorporating a B strain from each lineage, the vaccine offers broader coverage compared to traditional trivalent formulations, which often faced mismatches with circulating B strains. The vaccine contains inactivated influenza virus antigens (hemagglutinin) prepared from viruses propagated in embryonated chicken eggs. It is administered via intramuscular injection and is indicated for use in individuals aged 6 months and older.
