Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FM-TP2000 is an investigational ophthalmic formulation of travoprost developed by Formosa Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. The drug utilizes Formosa's proprietary Activ-Polymer Nanoparticle Technology (APNT) to create a stable, nanoparticle-sized suspension of the active ingredient. This formulation aims to enhance the bioavailability and ocular penetration of travoprost, a prostaglandin F2α analogue. Travoprost functions as a selective agonist for the prostaglandin FP receptor, which facilitates the drainage of aqueous humor through the uveoscleral pathway, thereby reducing intraocular pressure (IOP). The APNT platform is designed to overcome the solubility challenges of hydrophobic drugs like travoprost, potentially improving therapeutic efficacy and patient comfort.
