Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FM301 is a small molecule targeted anticancer agent being developed by the South Korean biotechnology company Futuremedicine. It is designed to treat refractory pancreatic cancer by acting as a selective antagonist of the A3 adenosine receptor (A3AR). The A3AR is a G protein-coupled receptor that is significantly overexpressed in various cancer tissues, including pancreatic tumors, while maintaining low expression in normal tissues. Activation of A3AR in the tumor microenvironment is linked to tumor cell proliferation, survival, and the suppression of anti-tumor immune responses. By blocking this receptor, FM301 aims to inhibit tumor growth and enhance the efficacy of existing chemotherapeutic agents like gemcitabine. The drug is currently in the preclinical/lead optimization stage of development.
