FM801

FM801 is a small molecule G protein-coupled receptor 119 (GPR119) agonist currently in development by Futuremedicine for the treatment of obesity. GPR119 is a G protein-coupled receptor primarily expressed in the pancreatic beta cells and the enteroendocrine cells of the gastrointestinal tract. Activation of GPR119 by FM801 stimulates the glucose-dependent secretion of insulin and the release of incretin hormones, including glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). These hormones play a critical role in maintaining glucose homeostasis and regulating satiety. By targeting this pathway, FM801 aims to provide a therapeutic option for weight management and the improvement of metabolic health in patients with obesity.
