Overview

FM888 is an investigational small molecule sodium channel inhibitor developed by Qingdao Yongzhan Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd. It specifically targets the voltage-gated sodium channel Nav1.7 (encoded by the SCN9A gene), which is predominantly expressed in peripheral sensory neurons and is a validated target for the treatment of chronic pain. By inhibiting Nav1.7, FM888 aims to suppress the hyperexcitability of nociceptors that leads to neuropathic pain conditions such as postherpetic neuralgia. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials in China to assess its efficacy and safety profile as an oral analgesic.
