FMP012 is a recombinant protein-based subunit malaria vaccine candidate targeting *Plasmodium falciparum*. It is based on the cell-traversal protein for ookinetes and sporozoites (CelTOS), expressed in *E. coli*, and formulated with adjuvants such as AS01B or GLA-SE to enhance immunogenicity. The primary mechanism of action is immunostimulation to elicit an immune response against the parasite. Developed by the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research and US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command, its main indication has been for the prevention of malaria in healthy adults[1][2][3][5][7].
