Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FMP013 + ALFQ is an investigational malaria vaccine candidate developed by the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR). It combines FMP013, a soluble, nearly full-length recombinant Plasmodium falciparum circumsporozoite protein (CSP) antigen expressed in Escherichia coli, with ALFQ (Army Liposome Formulation containing QS-21), a potent liposomal adjuvant containing synthetic monophosphoryl lipid A (3D-PHAD) and QS-21. The vaccine is designed to elicit robust humoral and cellular immune responses against the CSP of Plasmodium falciparum, aiming to prevent sporozoite invasion of the liver and provide sterile protection against malaria. It has been evaluated in Phase I clinical trials using a controlled human malaria infection (CHMI) model.
