Overview

FMT + tislelizumab is an investigational combination therapy being evaluated for the treatment of advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in patients who have previously failed treatment with immune checkpoint inhibitors. The therapy combines fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), which involves the transfer of healthy donor stool to the patient's gastrointestinal tract to restore microbial diversity and modulate the systemic immune environment, with tislelizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) receptor. By blocking the PD-1 pathway, tislelizumab prevents the suppression of T-cell activity, while FMT is hypothesized to overcome resistance mechanisms associated with an unfavorable gut microbiome. This clinical strategy, led by investigator Se-Hoon Lee, aims to restore the efficacy of immunotherapy in resistant NSCLC populations.
