Overview

FMX-8 is a recombinant fusion protein drug developed by FerruMax Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of anemia, particularly anemia associated with chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease. The drug is a fusion protein of the human hemojuvelin (HJV) protein and acts as a hepcidin inhibitor. By inhibiting hepcidin, FMX-8 aims to improve iron availability and erythropoiesis in patients with chronic anemia. Clinical development reached Phase 2 trials but was discontinued after termination of these studies.
