FND-4b (1-(3-chloro-4-((trifluoromethyl)thio)phenyl)-3-(4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenyl)urea) is a novel fluorinated N,N'-diarylurea compound developed at the University of Kentucky. It acts as a potent activator of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) at low micromolar concentrations. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that FND-4b inhibits cell proliferation, arrests the cell cycle, and induces apoptosis in colorectal cancer (CRC) and triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) models, both as a monotherapy and in combination with other therapeutic agents.
