Overview
FOLFOX 4 is a chemotherapy regimen consisting of three drugs: folinic acid (leucovorin), fluorouracil (5-FU), and oxaliplatin. It primarily works by targeting rapidly dividing cells, with oxaliplatin inhibiting DNA synthesis through DNA crosslinking and fluorouracil interfering with both DNA and RNA synthesis. Folinic acid enhances the activity of fluorouracil. This regimen is administered in 2-week cycles and is primarily used for colorectal cancer treatment.
