Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a fixed-dose combination of three water-soluble vitamins: folic acid (vitamin B9), pyridoxine (vitamin B6), and cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12). It is used to treat or prevent deficiencies in these vitamins, which are essential for normal growth, red blood cell formation, neurological function, DNA synthesis and repair, amino acid metabolism, and homocysteine regulation. The combination is commonly prescribed for individuals at risk of deficiency due to poor diet or certain medical conditions. Clinical studies have shown that this combination can lower plasma homocysteine levels but does not significantly alter major biomarkers of vascular inflammation or reduce cardiovascular events; however, it may reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration in some populations[1][2][3][4][5][6].
