Overview

This is a five-drug combination regimen consisting of folinic acid (leucovorin), fluorouracil (5-FU), oxaliplatin, bevacizumab, and high-dose vitamin C. The core chemotherapy backbone—folinic acid, fluorouracil, and oxaliplatin—is known as FOLFOX. Bevacizumab is a monoclonal antibody targeting vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A) to inhibit angiogenesis. High-dose intravenous vitamin C has been investigated for its potential anti-cancer effects, particularly in tumors with certain mutations such as RAS or BRAF. This combination has been studied primarily as first-line therapy for metastatic colorectal cancer, aiming to improve progression-free survival and response rates by combining cytotoxic chemotherapy with targeted anti-angiogenic therapy and adjunctive high-dose vitamin C[1][2].
