Overview

Follitropin alfa + follitropin beta is a combination of two recombinant human follicle-stimulating hormone (r-hFSH) biologics. These glycoproteins are produced using recombinant DNA technology in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells and possess the same amino acid sequence as natural human FSH. The combination is utilized in controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) protocols for women undergoing assisted reproductive technology (ART), such as in vitro fertilization (IVF). By binding to the follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR) on granulosa cells in the ovary, these agents stimulate the recruitment and development of multiple follicles. This specific combination was highlighted in clinical research (e.g., ChiCTR2300069139) investigating the timing of luteinizing hormone addition in older women.
