Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Folltropin-V** is a highly purified, porcine pituitary-derived follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) preparation for veterinary use in cattle. It is supplied as a lyophilized powder (700 IU per vial, equivalent to 400 mg NIH-FSH-P1 standard) reconstituted with bacteriostatic sodium chloride diluent for intramuscular injection, delivering 35 IU/mL. Developed and marketed by Vétoquinol, it is FDA-approved exclusively for inducing superovulation in reproductively mature beef and dairy heifers and cows to facilitate embryo transfer programs, administered as 87.5 IU twice daily for 4 days starting days 8-10 post-estrus, combined with prostaglandin for luteolysis. It exhibits a short half-life (~4-5 hours), rapid absorption, and targets ovarian follicles without systemic toxicity beyond reproductive organs.[1][3][9][11]
