Overview
Fomitopsis cajanderi hot aqueous extract is a research-stage natural product extract derived from the fruiting body of the *Fomitopsis cajanderi* mushroom, commonly known as the Rosy Polypore. Prepared via a two-hour decoction in water at 100°C, the extract is primarily composed of immunomodulatory beta-glucans (polysaccharides). It has been studied in vitro for its potential anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and anticancer properties. Specifically, the extract exhibits concentration-dependent cytotoxic effects on human U-937 histiocytic lymphoma cells and inhibits tumor necrosis factor (TNF) secretion by lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated U-937 monocytes. It also potentially modulates other cytokines such as interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) and interleukin-2 (IL-2). Currently, the extract remains in the academic research stage with no commercial development or clinical trials.
