Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fonadelpar is a small molecule drug that acts as a selective agonist of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor delta (PPARδ). It is being developed primarily as an ophthalmic solution for the treatment of dry eye disease and corneal disorders. Fonadelpar’s mechanism involves activation of PPARδ, which plays a role in regulating lipid metabolism and inflammation. The drug has reached Phase 3 clinical trials for dry eye syndromes and Phase 2 for corneal epithelial defects. Senju Pharmaceutical is the originator and main developer of fonadelpar; Eyenovia has also entered into collaboration to develop it further using their Optejet dispensing technology[2][3][5][7].
