Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fongex is a specialized laundry disinfectant and antifungal treatment developed by Vpharma (UK). It is formulated as a non-biological liquid additive that utilizes silver ions, a broad-spectrum antimicrobial (disinfectant) agent, and a yeasticidal agent to eliminate bacterial and fungal pathogens from clothing, towels, and bed linen. Originally developed in Switzerland and reformulated in the UK, it is designed to kill infections such as *Candida albicans* (thrush/candidiasis) and bacteria responsible for conditions like impetigo. Fongex is effective at low temperatures (30°C) and is used as an adjunct to topical or systemic medical treatments to prevent the cycle of self-re-infection and the spread of cross-infection through contaminated laundry.
