foot-and-mouth disease DNA vaccine

The foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) DNA vaccine is a proprietary veterinary vaccine initially developed by Inovio Pharmaceuticals through its subsidiary VGX Animal Health. It utilizes electroporation technology for delivery. In 2014, Inovio divested its animal health assets, including this FMD DNA vaccine, to Plumbline Life Sciences, a South Korean animal health company, to focus on human immunotherapy products. Plumbline acquired these assets for further development and commercialization, particularly targeting the Asian market. In 2016, Inovio licensed the vaccine to Plumbline, with Plumbline responsible for funding development activities within Asia (excluding Japan) and Inovio entitled to milestone payments and royalties on future sales.
