Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Foproct (also spelled Forproct) is a fixed-dose combination rectal cream containing hydrocortisone acetate (1% w/w) and lidocaine (1.5% w/w). It is developed by Verisfield and manufactured by Cana Laboratories and HELP. Foproct is indicated for the local symptomatic relief of hemorrhoids, anal fissures, proctitis, and perianal eczema. Hydrocortisone acetate is a mild corticosteroid that binds to the glucocorticoid receptor, suppressing inflammatory mediators to reduce swelling, redness, and itching. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that blocks voltage-gated sodium channels, preventing the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses to provide rapid pain and itch relief in the anorectal region.
