Foravirumab is a human monoclonal antibody targeting antigenic site III of the rabies virus glycoprotein (RABV-G)[5]. It is designed for post-exposure prophylaxis against rabies virus infection by binding to the viral glycoprotein, thereby neutralizing the virus and preventing its entry into host cells[3][5][7]. The antibody has also been used as a component in antibody-drug conjugates for experimental cancer therapies, where it is linked to cytotoxic agents for targeted delivery to cancer cells overexpressing the rabies virus glycoprotein[1]. Foravirumab is not approved for clinical use and is available for research purposes only[3][5][1]. It has been developed and studied primarily by Crucell Holdings (now part of Johnson & Johnson), and has been described as a biosimilar antibody for rabies virus post-exposure prophylaxis[3][7].
