Overview

Formaldoxime is a simple oxime compound (CH2=NOH) that has been investigated in preclinical research for its potential vasodilatory properties, particularly in the context of pulmonary hypertension. In experimental studies, it has been evaluated for its ability to induce relaxation in pulmonary and mesenteric arteries. While its exact mechanism of action in vascular tissues is not fully characterized, it is often studied alongside other nitrogen-containing compounds and hydroxamic acids that may act as nitric oxide (NO) donors or activators of the soluble guanylyl cyclase (sGC) pathway. Currently, formaldoxime is primarily utilized as a biochemical reagent and laboratory tool rather than a clinical therapeutic candidate.
