Overview

Duo-Tiovent is a fixed-dose combination inhalation therapy developed by Midas Care for the management of obstructive airway diseases. It contains formoterol, a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA), and tiotropium, a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA). Formoterol acts by stimulating beta2-receptors in the lungs, leading to rapid and sustained bronchodilation by relaxing airway smooth muscle. Tiotropium works by blocking M3 muscarinic receptors, which inhibits the bronchoconstrictive effects of acetylcholine. This dual mechanism provides synergistic effects, improving lung function and reducing symptoms more effectively than either agent alone. It is primarily indicated for the maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema.
