Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Formoterol fumarate MDI (PT005) is an inhaled long-acting β2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) bronchodilator formulated as a metered dose inhaler (MDI). It is developed for the maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including moderate to very severe cases. The drug acts by stimulating β2-adrenergic receptors in the airway smooth muscle, leading to bronchodilation and improved airflow. PT005 uses proprietary porous particle technology to enhance stability and delivery efficiency in the MDI format. It has been evaluated both as monotherapy and as part of combination therapies for COPD[1][2][3][4][5].
