Formula 3 is a topical antifungal solution developed by Tetra Corporation for the treatment of athlete's foot (tinea pedis) and ringworm. The product's active ingredient is 1% tolnaftate, a small molecule antifungal agent that has been FDA-approved for over 50 years. Formula 3 utilizes a patented technology that renders tolnaftate oil-soluble by using natural jojoba oil as the delivery vehicle. This in-solution formulation prevents the active ingredient from separating and facilitates rapid absorption into the skin, delivering the antifungal agent directly to the site of infection. It works by inhibiting the growth of dermatophyte fungi. Formula 3 is an over-the-counter (OTC) product and has received the American Podiatric Medical Association's Seal of Approval.
