Overview
FORRAD (also known as Oral Ulcer Gargle) is a proprietary mucoadhesive hydrogel formulation developed for the management of radiation-induced oral mucositis (stomatitis). It is primarily indicated for patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma undergoing intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). The formulation works by creating a viscous, protective barrier over the oral mucosa, which shields the tissue from further injury and provides a palliative effect to facilitate healing. In clinical studies led by Yun-fei Xia at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, FORRAD has been evaluated in Phase 2 trials to compare its efficacy and safety against a standard quadruple mixture of dexamethasone, gentamicin, vitamin B12, and procaine.
