FortrOss is a synthetic, biphasic bone graft substitute composed of 60% hydroxyapatite (HA) and 40% beta-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP), primarily utilized in dental and maxillofacial surgery for bone regeneration. Developed by Zimmer Biomet, the material functions as an osteoconductive scaffold that provides a physical structure for the migration and attachment of osteogenic cells and the subsequent deposition of new bone matrix. The β-TCP component is designed for relatively rapid resorption, which creates space for early bone ingrowth, while the HA component resorbs more slowly, providing long-term structural stability and maintaining the volume of the graft site. FortrOss is commonly indicated for procedures such as sinus floor elevation, alveolar ridge augmentation, and the treatment of extraction sockets or periodontal defects.
