Overview
Fortune eupatorium, known as Peilan in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), is a botanical drug derived from the aerial parts of *Eupatorium fortunei* Turcz. It is characterized by its aromatic properties, which are primarily attributed to its volatile oil content, including compounds such as p-cymene, n-octyl aldehyde, and coumarin. In TCM, it is classified as an aromatic herb that resolves dampness, awakens the spleen, and clears summer-heat. Clinically, it is indicated for conditions involving dampness obstructing the middle burner, characterized by symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and a greasy tongue coating. It is also traditionally used to treat halitosis and early-stage summer-heat dampness syndrome.
