Overview

Fosaprepitant (MK-0517) is an intravenous antiemetic drug that acts as a prodrug of aprepitant and is used for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV). It works by antagonizing the neurokinin 1 (NK1) receptor. Midazolam is a short-acting benzodiazepine with rapid onset used for sedation, anesthesia induction, seizure control, and anxiety disorders. It enhances the inhibitory action of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) at GABA-A receptors in the central nervous system. The combination may be studied or used in clinical settings where both antiemetic protection and sedation/anxiolysis are required[1][6][8].
