Overview

Foscenvivint (OP-724) is an investigational small molecule inhibitor of the CREB-binding protein (CBP)/β-catenin interaction. It is designed to modulate the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, which plays a critical role in the activation of hepatic stellate cells and the progression of liver fibrosis. By selectively inhibiting the binding of β-catenin to CBP, foscenvivint shifts the signaling toward the p300/β-catenin complex, promoting cellular differentiation over proliferation and collagen production. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for the treatment of liver cirrhosis, particularly in specialized populations such as hemophilia patients with HIV/HCV co-infection. It was originally developed by Prism BioLab and is being further developed by Ohara Pharmaceutical in collaboration with academic investigators.
