Fosfomycin + streptomycin is a synergistic antibiotic combination primarily utilized in veterinary medicine for the treatment of systemic bacterial infections in poultry and swine. Fosfomycin acts as a cell wall synthesis inhibitor by irreversibly binding to UDP-N-acetylglucosamine enolpyruvyl transferase (MurA), effectively blocking the first step of peptidoglycan biosynthesis. Streptomycin, an aminoglycoside, complements this by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, causing misreading of mRNA and inhibiting protein synthesis. This combination broadens the antibacterial spectrum and reduces the emergence of resistance compared to monotherapy. It is particularly effective against Gram-negative pathogens such as *Escherichia coli*, *Salmonella* spp., and *Pasteurella* spp., often formulated with electrolytes or energizing complexes to support recovery in intensive farming environments.
