Overview

This is a combination of three antiepileptic drugs used for the management of seizures, particularly in cases of refractory seizures or status epilepticus. Each component works through different mechanisms: - Fosphenytoin is a prodrug of phenytoin that acts as a sodium channel blocker, used for generalized tonic-clonic status epilepticus and prevention of seizures during neurosurgery. - Lacosamide is a newer sodium channel blocker with a mechanism similar to phenytoin but with superior pharmacokinetics and tolerability. - Levetiracetam works by binding to synaptic vesicle glycoprotein 2A (SV2A) and modulating neurotransmitter release, used for partial-onset, myoclonic, and tonic-clonic seizures. The combination provides multiple mechanisms of action for seizure control in difficult-to-treat cases.
