Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FP-018 is a long-acting injectable (LAI) formulation of cariprazine, a small molecule atypical antipsychotic. It is being developed by Foresee Pharmaceuticals using their proprietary Stabilized Injectable Formulation (SIF) platform technology. Cariprazine acts as a partial agonist at dopamine D3 and D2 receptors, with a unique preference for the D3 subtype, and at serotonin 5-HT1A receptors. The SIF platform is designed to provide a sustained-release profile, potentially allowing for monthly or less frequent dosing, which aims to improve medication adherence in patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. FP-018 is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
