Overview

FP-ALDH2 Activator 1 is a preclinical-stage small molecule designed to activate the mitochondrial enzyme aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2), developed by Foresee Pharmaceuticals. ALDH2 is a critical enzyme responsible for the detoxification of reactive aldehydes, such as 4-hydroxy-2-nonenal (4-HNE) and malondialdehyde (MDA), which are generated during lipid peroxidation and oxidative stress. By enhancing the activity of ALDH2, this compound aims to reduce the accumulation of these toxic intermediates, thereby protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining mitochondrial function. The program is specifically targeted toward the treatment of Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolic Diseases (CVRM), where oxidative stress and aldehyde-mediated toxicity play significant roles in disease progression.
