FP-ALDH2 Activator 2

FP-ALDH2 Activator 2 is a small molecule positive allosteric modulator of the mitochondrial enzyme aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2), currently in preclinical development by Foresee Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of neurological disorders. ALDH2 is a critical enzyme responsible for the detoxification of reactive aldehydes, such as 4-hydroxy-2-nonenal (4-HNE), which are products of lipid peroxidation and accumulate under conditions of oxidative stress. The accumulation of these toxic aldehydes is a hallmark of various neurodegenerative diseases and contributes to neuronal damage and mitochondrial dysfunction. By enhancing the catalytic activity of ALDH2, FP-ALDH2 Activator 2 aims to facilitate the clearance of these toxic metabolites, thereby providing neuroprotection and mitigating the progression of neurological conditions.
