FP-MMP-12 inhibitor 1

FP-MMP-12 inhibitor 1 is a small molecule inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-12 (MMP-12), also known as macrophage elastase, currently under development by Foresee Pharmaceuticals. MMP-12 is a proteolytic enzyme primarily secreted by macrophages that plays a critical role in the degradation of extracellular matrix components, such as elastin, and is heavily implicated in the pathogenesis of chronic inflammatory and fibrotic lung diseases. By inhibiting MMP-12, the compound aims to reduce pathological tissue remodeling, alveolar destruction, and the progression of fibrosis in conditions like interstitial lung disease (ILD) and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). The drug is currently in the preclinical stage of development for these respiratory indications.
