FP-MMP-12 inhibitor 2

FP-MMP-12 inhibitor 2 is a preclinical-stage small molecule inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-12 (MMP-12), developed by Foresee Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of neurological disorders. MMP-12, also known as macrophage elastase, is a proteolytic enzyme primarily expressed by macrophages that degrades extracellular matrix components like elastin and is a key mediator of inflammatory processes. In the central nervous system, elevated MMP-12 activity is associated with blood-brain barrier disruption and neuroinflammation. By selectively inhibiting MMP-12, this compound aims to mitigate neuroinflammatory damage and provide therapeutic benefit in conditions such as multiple sclerosis or other neurodegenerative diseases.
