Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FP187-V2B is a proprietary oral formulation of dimethyl fumarate (DMF) developed by Forward Pharma. It is designed as a delayed and slow-release version of DMF, an immune modulator that acts primarily through the activation of the Nrf2 (nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2) pathway and the inhibition of the NF-κB pathway. These mechanisms contribute to its anti-inflammatory and cytoprotective effects. FP187-V2B specifically refers to a version of the formulation evaluated in Phase I clinical trials to optimize its pharmacokinetic profile under different dietary conditions (fasted vs. fed). The broader FP187 program was developed for the treatment of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) and psoriasis, aiming to improve upon the tolerability and efficacy of existing DMF treatments.
